Porthmadog is a town in Gwynedd, Wales, and has a population of 4,185. The town lies 20 miles south of Caernarfon. The community of Porthmadog includes the villages of Morfa Bychan, Borth-y-Gest and Tremadog. Porthmadog is predominantly Welsh-speaking.

Sites of interest include Moel y Gest, which is a 263m hill west of Porthmadog. Y Ganolfan is an entertainment venue for concerts and exhibitions. Porthmadog Maritime Museum on Oakley Wharf features displays about schooners built in the town.

Porthmadog has several primary and secondary schools, including Ysgol Borth-y-Gest and Ysgol y Gorlan. Ysgol Eifionydd is a bilingual comprehensive school in the town.

There are facilities for sports including sailing, golf, football and rugby. Porthmadog F.C. was founded in the nineteenth-century and play their home games at Y Traeth, which has a capacity of several thousand. Sea angling is popular in the community of Porthmadog.

Porthmadog railway station offers services to destinations including Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Machynlleth. Porthmadog Harbour railway station is located at the southern end of the Stryd Fawr. There are bus services in operation in the town.
