Worcester is a city in Worcestershire. It has a population of 101,328.

Landmarks include Worcester Cathedral, which lies on a bank overlooking the River Severn. It was constructed between the eleventh- and sixteenth-centuries and contains the tombs of King John (died in 1216) and Arthur Tudor (died in 1502). Other historic buildings include Worcester Guildhall, which dates from 1721 and is Grade I listed. Greyfriars is a Grade I listed building built in around 1485, now in the ownership of the National Trust. The parish church of St. Helen is Grade II* listed and dates from the Middle Ages; it was restored during the nineteenth-century.

Cultural attractions include Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum, which was founded in 1833. The Swan Theatre has a capacity of 350 and opened in 1965. Northwick Cinema was constructed in 1938 in Art Deco style. The Hive houses libraries and Worcestershire Record Office. Worcester has several shopping centres, namely Cathedral Plaza, Reindeer Court and CrownGate Shopping Centre; the latter has 60 stores. A range of festivals take place in the city, such as the Three Choirs Festival, the Worcester Festival, the Worcester Film Festival and Worcester Music Festival.

Worcester has facilities for sports such as rugby, cricket, football, hockey, basketball and rowing. Worcester City F.C. play their home games at Victoria Ground, which has a capacity of 3,500.

The city has a number of schools, including Bishop Perowne Church of England College, Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College, Christopher Whitehead Language College and Sixth Form, Tudor Grange Academy Worcester, Nunnery Wood High School, New College Worcester, Royal Grammar School Worcester (founded c. 685) and King's School, Worcester. Worcester Sixth Form College and Heart of Worcestershire College provide further education and higher education. The University of Worcester gained university status in 2005 and has 10,745 students.

Worcester has two railway stations: Worcester Foregate Street and Worcester Shrub Hill. They offer services to destinations including Birmingham, Hereford, London, Oxford, Cheltenham, Reading, Didcot, Bristol, Gloucester, Great Malvern, Weymouth, Westbury and Brighton. There are bus services in operation in the city.
