Sites of interest in the village include the parish church of St Mary the Virgin, which dates from the thirteenth-century and is Grade I listed. Stone Castle was constructed between 1135 and 1140 and was owned by the Wiltshire family. Bridget Wingfield (daughter of Sir John Wiltshire) resided at the castle and was a friend of Anne Boleyn, wife of Henry VIII.

Bluewater Shopping Centre opened in 1999 and is currently the fifth-largest shopping centre in the United Kingdom. It has 330 shops, as well as cafes, restaurants and a cinema.

Stone Crossing railway station offers services to destinations including London, Luton, St Albans, Gravesend and Rainham. There are bus services in operation in the village.
