Ripon is a city in North Yorkshire, and has a population of 16,702. It has a current average sale price of £275,047. The city lies 12 miles north of Harrogate and 16 miles south of Northallerton.

Attractions include Ripon Cathedral, which was founded during the seventh-century. The building was constructed between the thirteenth- and sixteenth-centuries and is a Grade I listed building. Fountains Abbey is located 3 miles southwest of Ripon and is also a Grade I listed building. The abbey was founded in 1132 and was dissolved in 1539. It is now managed by the National Trust. The abbey is part of the designated World Heritage Site that also comprises Studley Royal Park, which covers an area of 800 acres. Newby Hall is a Grade I listed eighteenth-century country house near Ripon.

Ripon has facilities for sports such as rugby. Ripon Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue; the site first hosted racing in 1900.

Schools in the area include Ripon Grammar School, which was established in 1555 and is currently one of the best-performing schools in northern England.

There is no railway station in Ripon. There are local bus services in operation in the city to locations such as Harrogate, Leeds, Boroughbridge, York, Thirsk, Northallerton, Leyburn and Richmond.
