Tadcaster is a market town in North Yorkshire. It has a population of 6,003 and a current average sale price of £251,533. The town is located 10 miles southwest of York and 12 miles northeast of Leeds.

The town was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. Sites of interest in Tadcaster include St Mary's Church, which dates from the fifteenth-century and is a Grade II* listed building. Tadcaster Bridge dates from the eighteenth-century and is a Grade II listed building. Samuel Smith Old Brewery is situated in Tadcaster; it is Yorkshire's oldest brewery and was founded in 1758. The Ark is the oldest building in active use in Tadcaster, having been constructed during the fifteenth-century.

There are facilities in the town for sports such as football, rugby, basketball and swimming. Tadcaster Albion A.F.C. play their home games at Ings Lane, which has a capacity of 2,000.

Tadcaster has several schools, including Tadcaster Grammar School, which was founded in 1557 and provides secondary education.
