Kington is a market town in Herefordshire, and has a population of 3,240. The current average sale price is £282,681. The town lies two miles from the Welsh border, and is 19 miles northwest of Hereford.

Sites of interest include the Church of St Mary, which is a Grade I listed building and dates from the thirteenth-century, although much of it has been altered. Kington Museum provides a local history of the town, and was established in 1986. Ye Olde Tavern is a Grade II listed public house constructed in the late eighteenth- or early nineteenth-century. Lady Hawkins' School is a secondary school with a sixth form, and was founded in 1632.

The town has facilities for sports such as golf and football. Kington Town F.C. play their home games at Mill Street.

There is no railway station in Kington; the nearest railway station is Knighton, which offers services to destinations including Shrewsbury and Swansea. There are local bus services in operation in the town to locations such as Newtown, Powys, Llandrindod Wells, Knighton, Presteigne, Leominster and Hereford.
