Abergavenny is a market town in Monmouthshire, Wales, and has a population of 12,515. The town is promoted as the 'Gateway to Wales' and the current average sale price is £260,000. Abergavenny lies 6 miles from the English border.

Abergavenny was originally the site of a Roman fort and remains of the fort's walls have been discovered. The town grew during the Norman era and was attacked during the border warfare of the Welsh Marches. Abergavenny was granted the right to hold two weekly markets and three yearly fairs beginning in the thirteenth-century. A cattle market has been held in the town since 1863.

Sites of interest in Abergavenny include the Borough Theatre, the eleventh-century Abergavenny Castle, the Church of St Mary, the Public Library, the Town Hall and the Church of the Holy Trinity. Every September the Abergavenny Food Festival takes place.
