Swansea is a coastal city in Wales and has a population of 245,500. It is the second-largest city in Wales.
Swansea was granted its first charter in the twelfth-century. The city was the world's leading centre for the copper-smelting industry during the Industrial Revolution. Sites of interest include the ruins of Swansea Castle, which was founded in 1107. The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is the city's public art gallery and was established in 1911. The Palace Theatre is Grade II listed and opened in 1888. Brangwyn Hall is a concert venue in the city.
