Swindon is a town in Wiltshire. It has a population of 182,441. The town is located 35 miles from Bristol and 71 miles from London.

Swindon was recorded in the Domesday Book. Known as Wiltshire's 'railway town', sites of interest in Swindon include the Museum of the Great Western Railway, which is situated at the site of the old railway works. Swindon Town Hall was constructed during the nineteenth-century. St Mark's Church is a Grade II listed building was built between 1843 and 1845.

There are a number of cultural attractions in the town, such as the Wyvern Theatre, which opened in 1971 and has a capacity of 635. Swindon Arts Centre is a 212-seat entertainment venue. Swindon Designer Outlet is the biggest covered designer outlet centre in Europe. Oasis Leisure Centre is an entertainment and sports complex in the town, and has facilities including a swimming pool and a concert hall. Swindon has several museums, including the Museum of Computing and Swindon Museum and Art Gallery.

Swindon enjoys a number of annual events, such as the Swindon Beer Festival and Swindon Festival of Literature, which takes place in May. Summer Breeze Festival is an annual music festival held in the nearby village of Liddington, with headliners including KT Tunstall.

Swindon has numerous primary and secondary schools, while New College and Swindon College provide further and higher education. UTC Swindon is a University Technical College in the town; it opened in 2014.

The town has facilities for sports such as football and ice hockey. Swindon Town F.C. play their home games at County Ground, which has a capacity of 15,728. The Link Centre is a leisure centre with facilities including an ice rink, a swimming pool, squash courts and a gym.

Swindon railway station offers services to destinations including Bristol, Chippenham, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Swansea and Westbury. There are bus services in operation in the town.
