Salisbury is a cathedral city in Wiltshire, with a population of 40,302. The current average sale price in Salisbury is £956,856. Stonehenge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located 8 miles northwest of the city. Salisbury is situated halfway between London and Exeter.

Old Sarum is the site of the earliest settlement in Salisbury. A motte-and-bailey castle was constructed there after the Norman conquest. The first bishop of Salisbury was appointed in 1075. The majority of Salisbury Cathedral was built between 1220 and 1258. The cathedral has the tallest spire in the United Kingdom and contains an original copy of Magna Carta. Salisbury Cathedral was built in the Early English Gothic style. The Salisbury cathedral clock dates to 1386 and is thought to be the oldest working modern clock in the world. Prominent burials in the cathedral include Edward Heath, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and Lady Katherine Grey, younger sister of the executed Jane.

Salisbury is a historic city. The Poultry Cross is a market cross that dates to the Middle Ages. There were originally four crosses in the market place, of which only the Poultry Cross survives today. Parliament met at the city on a number of occasions during the Middle Ages, including the years 1324, 1328 and 1384. Buckingham's Rebellion against Richard III led to the duke of Buckingham's execution in Salisbury in 1483. James II assembled his forces in the city during the Glorious Revolution.

There are a variety of pubs, shops, restaurants, cafes and bars in Salisbury. The Old George Mall and The Maltings are two shopping centres in the city. Sites of interest include the Salisbury Museum, which is housed in a Grade I listed medieval building. Arundells is a Grade II listed house in the Cathedral Close and was the home of Edward Heath. Salisbury Playhouse is a theatre featuring the 517-seat Main House and the 149-seat Salberg. Salisbury Arts Centre hosts theatre, comedy, music, dance and exhibitions.

Salisbury is home to a variety of sporting facilities for sports including football (namely the Raymond McEnhill Stadium), rugby and cricket. Salisbury Racecourse features thoroughbred horse racing. There is also a leisure centre and swimming pool in Salisbury.

Salisbury is home to the only grammar schools in Wiltshire: South Wilts Grammar School for Girls and Bishop Wordsworth's School. Other schools in or near the city include Salisbury Cathedral School, Chafyn Grove School, Leehurst Swan School and St Edmund's Girls' School. Salisbury Sixth Form College offers a range of further education courses. Sarum College is a Christian institution in the city.

Salisbury railway station offers services to destinations such as London, Exeter, Basingstoke, Southampton and Bristol. There are bus services to destinations including Southampton, Andover, Bournemouth, Swindon and Devizes. There is also a Park and Ride bus scheme in the city.
