Southport is a seaside town in Merseyside, with a population of 90,381. The current average sale price is £196,961. The town is situated on the Irish Sea coast.

Southport became a seaside resort during the nineteenth-century. Sites of interest in the town include Southport Pier, which opened in 1860 and is the oldest iron pier in the country. It is Grade II listed and has a total length of 1,108 metres. Pleasureland is an amusement park with rollercoasters and other rides. Southport Model Railway Village opened in 1996 and is a tourist attraction. Meols Hall in Churchtown dates from the twelfth-century (later rebuilt) and is a Grade II* listed building.

Other landmarks include St Cuthbert's Church, a Grade II listed building constructed during the eighteenth-century. Southport Arts Centre is also Grade II listed and has a theatre and a performance space; it is integrated with Atkinson Art Gallery and Library. Southport Town Hall is also Grade II listed and was built in 1852-3.

A range of annual events take place in the town, such as Southport Air Show and Southport Flower Show, which is the United Kingdom's largest independent flower show. The venue for the flower show is Victoria Park.

Southport has facilities for sports including football, rugby and golf. Golf courses in the town include Royal Birkdale Golf Club, which has hosted the Open Championship ten times between the years 1954 and 2017. Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club was founded in 1906 and hosted the Ryder Cup in 1933 and 1937. Southport F.C. is the town's football club and they play their home games at Haig Avenue, which has a capacity of 6,008.

Southport has a number of primary and secondary schools, such as Greenbank High School, Meols Cop High School, Stanley High School and Christ the King Catholic High School. Southport College and King George V College provide further education.

Southport railway station offers services to destinations including Liverpool, Manchester, Wigan, Rochdale, Blackburn and Leeds. There are local bus services in operation in the town to locations such as Skelmersdale, Ormskirk, Scarisbrick and Burscough.
