Maidenhead is a market town in Berkshire. It has a population of 67,441. The town lies on the River Thames and is located 5.8 miles northwest of Windsor and 11.7 miles northeast of the county town of Reading.
Landmarks in the town include Maidenhead Bridge, a Grade I listed structure that opened in 1777. The Jubilee Clock Tower in Maidenhead was constructed in 1897 as part of the nation's celebrations for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Maidenhead Heritage Centre is a heritage centre and museum in the town, and was founded in 1993. It presents the history of Maidenhead from Roman times to the present. Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is a multi form arts centre in the town with a 225-seat theatre.
There are facilities in Maidenhead for sports, such as rowing, football, rugby, sailing and golf. Maidenhead United F.C. play their home games at York Road, which has a capacity of 4,000.
Maidenhead has numerous primary and secondary schools, including Altwood Church of England School, Cox Green School, Desborough College, Furze Platt Senior School, Newlands Girls' School, Claires Court School and St Piran's. Berkshire College of Agriculture is a further education agricultural college founded in 1949.
