Newport is a market town in Shropshire, with a population of 11,387. The current average sale price is �£407,500. The town is located 6 miles north of Telford and 12 miles west of Stafford. It lies near the Staffordshire border.

Attractions include Chetwynd Park, an eighteenth-century landscape garden with woodland on the edge of Newport. Newport Guildhall was constructed in 1485-6 and is a Grade II* listed building. St Nicholas Church dates from the thirteenth-century. The Puleston Cross was built during the fourteenth-century and is Grade II listed. Three kilometres east of Newport is Aqualate Mere, which is the largest natural lake in the English Midlands.

Newport has facilities for sports such as football, bowls, rugby and cricket. Lilleshall Hall, formerly a country house, is now one of three National Sports Centres.

There are a number of schools in Newport, including Newport High School and Haberdashers' Adams. Harper Adams University is situated close to the village of Edgmond, near Newport.
