Romsey is a market town in Hampshire, with a population of 19,441. The town is located 7 miles northwest of Southampton, 11 miles southwest of Winchester and 17 miles southeast of Salisbury.

Sites of interest include Romsey Abbey, which dates from the tenth-century. It is a Grade I listed building and is the largest parish church in Hampshire. Broadlands is a Grade I listed country house and was the residence of Henry John Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston, who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the nineteenth-century. Embley Park is a country estate on the outskirts of Romsey, and it was the home of Florence Nightingale. King John's House is a Grade I listed building and was allegedly a hunting lodge used by King John. Sadler's Mill is a Grade II listed watermill. The White Horse Hotel is a Grade II* listed eighteenth-century coaching inn that now houses a four-star hotel and brasserie. Paultons Park is an amusement park near the town and has over 70 rides and attractions, such as Peppa Pig World.

A range of events take place in the town, including Romsey Carnival, the Beggars Fair, Romsey Arts Festival, the Winter Carnival, Romsey Beer Festival and Romsey Classic Car Show.

Romsey has facilities for sports such as cricket, football and rugby. Romsey Town F.C. play their home games at the Bypass Ground, which has a capacity of 1,500. There is also a swimming pool in the town.

The town has a number of primary and secondary schools including The Mountbatten School, The Romsey School and Hampshire Collegiate School. The latter is a coeducational independent day and boarding school located in Embley Park.

Romsey railway station offers services to destinations including Southampton, Portsmouth, Brighton, Salisbury, Bristol and Cardiff. There are local bus services in operation in the town to locations such as Salisbury, Southampton, Eastleigh and Winchester.
